Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) serve the community by assisting in the distribution of the consecrated Body and Blood - either at Mass or to the ill.
Botsford Hospital is in need of EMHCs to volunteer for a couple of hours a month. We could also use additional volunteers in our rotating weekend Mass schedule. If you are considering becoming an EMHC or you have questions or concerns, please contact Debbie Sotzen.
EMHCs must be confirmed members of the parish. Individuals must meet with Fr. Theo as part of a discernment process and complete both practical and formational training before beginning to serve. New parishioners who are already experienced EMHCs also need to meet with Fr. Theo and the EMHC Coordinator before joining our ministry here at St. Priscilla.
All EMHCs are now scheduled for weekend liturgies, so it is important to confirm your correct contact information and availability with the EMHC Coordinator and keep the information up to date. EMHCs are expected to arrive at Mass a minimum of ten minutes early to sign in and prepare for Mass. If a scheduled EMHC has not signed in by five minutes before Mass begins, a replacement will be found. Sign-up sheets may be announced for specific Masses, especially during holidays.
