Every Parish in our Archdiocese has a mandatory Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) Target. If that target is not met through the CSA Campaign itself, the Parish must still pay the bill, only now they will be paying the bill using offertory and fundraising that has already been assessed 7% by the Archdiocese.
Donors ask if it’s best to donate their December Offertory to the Christmas Collection since they know that the Christmas Collection is not assessed the 7%. This is true; however, the Christmas Collection is used to calculate the following year’s CSA target. Instead, I try to encourage donors to contribute to CSA. Once the Parish reaches its CSA target, there is no assessment on gifts to CSA, and this “CSA for Christmas” would end up reducing the following year’s target. Donate Here
