Sure, we’re looking to raise money to support St. Priscilla Youth Ministry and the middle school youth and high school teens who participate, but we want to be relational in the process. All of our fundraising activities give our young people the chance to build relationships with our parish community. A Taste of St. Priscilla and our Lemonade Stand, for example, is a direct-connect between youth and adults.
Our BINGO Kitchen and Bottle and Can Drives bring the neighboring community face-to-face with our youth – evangelization at its best!
We don’t want any of our middle school and high school youth to miss out on an opportunity of a conference, trip, event or activity because they can’t pay. As such, we provide a wide variety of fundraising opportunities for our youth to participate in throughout the year. Our fundraising efforts accomplish our goals of: providing our youth with the means to offset the cost of their participation and to help ease the financial burden on families,
providing our youth the opportunity to take ownership and leadership
providing our youth the opportunity to build relationships with members of our parish family and community-at-large, and
Providing the opportunity for our parish and community to directly support our youth ministry efforts.
Participation in the National Catholic Youth Conference (bi-annual), Steubenville Catholic Youth Conference (annual), Rainbow (annual), W.I.N.D. (annual), leadership trainings (ongoing), CYT / WAYMC (ongoing) and other events will help our young people connect and interact with their Catholic peers, experience their faith through the sacraments, and leads them to experiencing Jesus Christ and drawing into a closer relationship with the Him.
Because we offer so many different youth-focused activities and events during the year in which our middle school youth and high school teens can participate, we do a variety of fundraisers to benefit the St. Priscilla Youth Ministry as a whole and the teens individually.
When announcing a fundraiser, we will provide information about when the fundraiser will benefit St. Priscilla Youth Ministry and when the youth can earn money to supplement conference, trip or event costs.
We have set up individual fundraising accounts – for any youth requesting one – so that our young people can “bank” the monies they earn at some of the fundraisers. These balances are listed online by first initial and last name. Simply click on the “Individual Account Balances” link in the left column of this page. The funds in individual accounts can be used to pay for any youth ministry event. Monies earned by fundraising activities cannot be withdrawn for non-youth ministry events, nor can they be refunded.
When a teen graduates from high school, the funds in their account are put back into the general youth ministry account to benefit the whole group. The only exception is if the graduate is still eligible to participate in a summer/fall event. We would keep their account open following graduation to continue funding and pay for the event.
Parents can add funds to their middle school youth or high school teen at any time. Depositing funds into your child's individual account on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis may make a conference, trip or event expenditure a little easier on the household budget. Any unused monies directly deposited by parents can be refunded. (Please note: There may be a delay of a week or so, as a parish check would need to be created for the refund.)
