The potential for transformation in each of us through the liturgy is amazing...and so our approach to liturgy is crucial. Unless liturgy is the priority at St. Priscilla, we will never realize that potential.
The work of liturgy is public, not private. Mass is not a time for private prayer. It is the intention of the Church that we come together as a faith-filled community and publicly worship God.
We are all called to participate at Mass. We should give all to a Lord who has given all to us. We can no longer go to Mass expecting to just show up for an hour and then leave. We need to put everything into the liturgy.
You must believe that liturgy can speak to our young people. And you must believe that our youth are worth speaking and listening to. They are not the Church of tomorrow; they are the Church of today. We must believe in them and in their sincerity. We must talk openly with them about issues that touch their lives.
"Our song" is only as believable as our lives. We must live our faith every day, if we are to be leaders and ministers. When we have passion for Christ, the Church and the sacraments, it will show in the performance of our ministry.
