Key Concepts & Terms
Our One Eight
program is structured to follow the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This format provides opportunities for the Sacrament of Confirmation to participate in several rituals modeled after those that occur during RCIA. These rituals and prayer experiences are meant to foster a deeper sense of belonging the Catholic Church.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth."
- Acts 1:8
One Eight is divided into three phases of preparation, each with distinct features, themes and rituals that are modeled after the RCIA process. To learn more about each of these phases, click on the text links below.
Period of Inquiry
Period of Evangelization
Period of Mission
The main concepts for each session are given to the Core Team Members and as part of the Parent Connect information so that everyone involved can be involved in the dynamics and teaching of each session. These are critically important things that we should help our teens to remember.
It is important to continually define the religious vocabulary that is used during the sessions. Common words like "grace," "faith," "evangelization" and others may not be understood, or a teen may have wrongfully defined those terms.
These key words are defined during each session in a way that the teens can understand, memorize and explain them. As with the key concepts, these key terms will also be included in the Parent Connect information so that parents can help their teens with this part of preparation.
Please pray for our Confirmandi, their parents and sponsors, and the Confirmation Core Team as together we walk into a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
