Period of Evangelization
Our One Eight
program is structured to follow the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This format provides opportunities for the Sacrament of Confirmation to participate in several rituals modeled after those that occur during RCIA. These rituals and prayer experiences are meant to foster a deeper sense of belonging the Catholic Church.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth."
- Acts 1:8
One Eight is divided into three phases of preparation, each with distinct features, themes and rituals that are modeled after the RCIA process. To learn more about each of these phases, click on the text links below.

PHASE 2: PERIOD OF EVANGELIZATION - OVERVIEW
This period of formation for teens preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation is modeled from the Period of the Catechumenate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).
Since the teens have already been baptized, a special emphasis is placed during this time on deepening the truths of the Church that the teens already know. In addition, it is critical to make a strong connection between the Sacrament of Confirmation and the Sacrament of Baptism.
For some teens, this period may be the first time they are adequately introduced to the mysteries of the faith. It is important to balance the need for these students to understand these teachings, while maintaining a healthy theological depth for the teens who are already knowledgeable in the basic tenets of the Catholic faith.
Above all, this period offers an opportunity for every teen to undergo conversion and hear the Gospel message in a new and challenging way.
Please pray for our Confirmandi, their parents and sponsors, and the Confirmation Core Team as together we walk into a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
