Our One Eight program is structured to follow the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This format provides opportunities for the Sacrament of Confirmation to participate in several rituals modeled after those that occur during RCIA. These rituals and prayer experiences are meant to foster a deeper sense of belonging the Catholic Church.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you,
and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth."
- Acts 1:8
One Eight is divided into three phases of preparation, each with distinct features, themes and rituals that are modeled after the RCIA process. To learn more about each of these phases, click on the text links below.
Period of Inquiry
Period of Evangelization
Period of Mission
Sessions within each phase of preparation, follow the format of: Gather, Proclaim, Break and Send. These four sections are modeled after the four movements of the Mass.
Teens will come together through an activity or game relevant to the session theme.
The topic of the session will be a proclamation of faith principles through a teaching. specific to the theme.
No, this is not snack time. At this time of the session, teens and Core Team break open the topic through small or large group discussion through sharing, journaling or other relevant action.
With a closing prayer, the Confirmandi are encouraged to incorporate the session theme into their daily lives and to proclaim the Gospel in their words and through their actions.
This session format will be quite familiar as it is the same one used during our EDGE and Life Nights.
Please pray for our Confirmandi, their parents and sponsors, and the Confirmation Core Team as together we walk into a closer relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
