The Mass is the focus and root of all that we do in Life Teen. Every youth ministry effort ultimately seeks to lead teens to the Mass, and every youth ministry effort is sustained by the power that comes from the Mass. In the Mass, where the Word of God is proclaimed and the Eucharist offered, our teens are offered the opportunity to fully encounter God’s love for them. For this reason, high school teens attend the Thursday 7 p.m. Mass before the Life Nights. The teens are strongly encouraged to enter into the Mass in a profound way by participating in the different liturgical ministries (i.e. gift bearer, Eucharistic minister, music minister, and lector).
Why You Should Join Us
Fr. Jim’s relevant homilies help bring the Mass to life for our young people while also capturing the truth of the gospel for the whole community. He preaches on topics that relate to a teen’s daily life, such as relationships and suffering, and he explains what the Gospel has to say about them. Our Thursday night musicians further help to engage the minds and hearts of the youth. With songs that are dynamic, Eucharistic, and full of life, teens are lead into worshipping God. While this Mass is geared toward engaging the youth, all of St. Priscilla’s parish family, from toddlers to the elderly, are invited to join the teens in worship. The energy that is created from having several generations gathered together to worship God is a truly phenomenal sight and experience you don’t want to miss!
Once the teens have been fed by God’s word and the Eucharist, they are lead into the “Life Night” where their Catholic faith continues to take shape and come alive (please see the Life Night section for details).
